Green roofs like this one is what we were learning about in college today. Beautiful, sustainable, wholesome designs like these are what inspire me to become an architect, not the soulless concrete boxes we’re all so used to now. This is the kind of future I want to design. This is the kind of future I want to live in.
People want things in life that makes them feel something. They want something that makes them choke back tears, or grit their teeth in agony, a joy so overpowering that it feels like your heart is going to burst into a million pieces, or even something that makes you want to turn your back on the world out of pure anger. We as people search so longingly for these things; these small, but potent, sometimes even unintentional things that somehow are supposed to make us feel something more than we have to feel about our own lives as they are. In a way, its tragically beautiful. We are all looking for the same thing in our lifetimes and we all feel so distant from it. We all roam the earth desperately searching for that one moment in time that is supposed to make you step back and say, “wow.” And in our mutual days of being lost, we turn to one another. We find someone who can fill that gap in ourselves; the small space between restlessness and serenity, and make us feel something for even a little while. We slap a label on it and call it Love. But in reality we all know that it’s just that lost space in ourselves that we are learning to fill; learning to fill with anything that our hearts will allow us to feel
